Coats! Maxmara

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Italian fashion house MaxMara is currently presenting an exhibition charting the brand’s iconic relationship with coats. Showcasing 70 pieces from its archive dating back to the 1950s, Coats! MaxMara is being held at Mocsow’s State Historical Museum.

The exhibition has been curated by fashion and art historian Adelheid Rasche, who collaborated with Studio Migliore + Servetto on the design of the Museum space. In addition to garments, the exhibition includes rare sketches and photographs recovered from MaxMara’s archive.

With a design alumni that includes international names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Narciso Rodriguez and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the exhibition offers an insight into recent design history. The Moscow exhibition includes specially commissioned photographs of members of the Bolshoi Ballet wearing MaxMara coats, shot by Russian artist Velery Katsuba. The travelling exhibition has previously been shown in Beijing, Tokyo and Berlin in 2006. Moscow will be its final stop, where it runs until 10 January 2012.
