‘Keurig-Friendly’ Cannabis Coffee Pods

San Diego-based premium coffee, tea and cocoa company Brewbudz has launched a range of single-serve, cannabis-infused coffee pods. The move follows the further legalisation of cannabis for recreational use across several US states, including Nevada and California, leading to increased demand for marijuana-based food and beverage products.

The line, launching in March 2017, will include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) options for recreational and medicinal use, with CBD offering the health benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive effects. Compatible with Keurig coffee brewers, the West Coast Roast coffee pods will also be available in both caffeinated and decaffeinated versions, with hazelnut and vanilla flavours in the pipeline.

Providing the effects of marijuana without smoking's negative impact on the lungs, Brewbudz 'K-cups' will also allow consumers to avoid the tell-tale aroma of cannabis. The 100% compostable pods will retail at $7 each and deliver between 10-50mg of cannabis, depending on the variety.
