Metallic Eyeshadow: Paris Fashion Week

For autumn/winter 2011-12 beauty, metallic tones proved a strong trend at Paris Fashion Week.

At Chanel, iridescent silver eyes and the label's new Graphite nail polish tempered Lagerfeld's distinctly masculine tailoring, while at Alexander McQueen, hairstylist Guido Palau took the theme one step further by covering the entire skull in large silver hair slides, complemented by pearlescent lips and delicately shimmering nude eyes.

Meanwhile, at Dries Van Noten, bronzed eyes in warm russet hues heralded a softer take on the trend for autumn, matching the burnt gold shimmer of his decadent brocades.

Whatever the hue, the eyeshadow was extended all the way up to the brow – a key new focal point for beauty emerging from the shows.
