Marriott and Wired’s Event Series


International hotel giant Marriott Hotels & Resorts has partnered with technology magazine Wired to launch a series of events centered on local innovation, social media networking and interactive technologies. 

The Wired + Marriott Culturazzi Series will take place at a number of Marriott properties in the US. Curated by Wired ‘insiders’ – such as start-up executives, ‘gadget gurus’ and ‘culture vultures’ – the events will be held in the hotels’ public spaces in an effort to boost Marriott’s social media presence by providing appealing, shareable social media content.

“Together with Wired, we will bring provocative and stimulating experiences to our hotel guests and the local community amplified on their social networks and on our Facebook and Twitter pages,” said Paul Cahill, Marriott’s senior vice-president of brand management.

The first event, at the Boston Long Wharf Marriott on September 19, saw Wired insider and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian highlight five of Boston’s ‘start-ups to watch’. A rooftop comedy show featuring comedians from online video site Funny or Die will be held in Los Angeles in October. The series will end with an interactive holiday gadget showcase at Wired’s New York shop in December.
