Audrey: Intelligent Dating Assistant

Extra
Audrey

US-based dating app Hinge is beta testing Audrey, a personal assistant that will intelligently message users’ matches and schedule dates.

According to the pilot site, Audrey will allow users to “say goodbye to matching, messaging and scheduling”, reducing time spent on the app. “We know the back-and-forth of getting to the first date can be frustrating, if not futile,” the site reads. “That’s why we’re introducing Audrey.”

According to the site, users manually select the people they’re interested in. Audrey then reaches out, making introductions and scheduling a date “if the feeling is mutual”. Audrey provides data and feedback along the way to help users find “the perfect match”. It’s currently unclear whether Audrey is an automated bot, real person or a combination of the two.

In an age of experience-seeking and constant novelty, brands have to up their game, whether by embedding gaming mechanisms into dating apps, or delving into niche offerings. See Modern Dating Update: Rethinking Relationships for more.
