Purple Sand Dunes: Prada S/S 15

Prada Runway Space S/S 15

For its Womenswear Spring/Summer 2015 runway show Italian fashion house Prada created a stunning and surreal installation of undulating hills of purple sand.

As depicted in our Colour Spectrum Spring/Summer 2015 rationale Ultra-Surreal, the sand dunes draw from gradated tones of Royal Purple and Ametrine inspired by imaginative and fantastical landscapes that blur the boundaries between real and digital worlds.

We expect purple to continue to be an important colour over the coming seasons.

Prada’s catwalk space also evokes the theme of our Colour Spectrum Spring/Summer 2016 rationale Panoramic that prompts an otherworldly and deep-hued palette that includes Solar Purple and Purple Shimmer.

As sharing social media platforms such as Instagram continue to grow in popularity, fashion brands are creating more spectacular and immersive experiences that take its audience beyond the clothes.
