Stockholm Furniture Fair 2015: Baux Acoustic Panels

Launching at Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair this week (February 3-7), Swedish brand Baux is extending its range of construction materials with colourful acoustic panels for large-scale spaces.
Designed by fellow Stockholm design studio Form Us With Love, the lightweight and flexible wall panels are available in five patterns (quilted, check, stripes, lines and diagonal) and 20 bold colourways – offering various modular configurations for both domestic and commercial spaces.
Building on the success of its smaller wall tiles, which launched at last year’s furniture fair, the new panels also comprise a mixed wood and cement material. Wood fibres create a heat-retaining, sound-absorbing structure, while the cement acts as the binding agent, providing strength, moisture resistance and fire protection.
As first highlighted in our report The Living Workspace, options for good acoustics – alongside privacy and ergonomic comfort – now come together as standard in furniture configurations for the work environment. We should expect to see more sophisticated acoustic options – offering greater options for consumer customisation – as fresh material innovations arrive. For more ideas on privacy and softening the work environment, see our recent Imm Cologne report.
