Colour Application

Pattern and colour mixing in Milan highlighted interesting techniques and new ideas for colour usage across a variety of materials and proportions. Stylus presents the key colour application stories seen this year at Milan 2012.

Highlights include large-scale geometric motifs, pieced and layered in bold colour combinations. These cover a plethora of low side tables, whether in wood veneer or plastic laminate. Sporty touches applying technical fabrics for outdoor use are detailed with flashes of super-bright colour against neutral grey or soft pastel shades. Sprayed, air-brush-style pattern play has a 1980s feel, with gel effects and translucent materials continuing the playful, retro aesthetic.
