Living Workspaces: Kickstarter’s Brooklyn HQ
With green space at a premium in concrete jungles like New York, US-based crowdfunding platform Kickstarter's headquarters embrace nature to soften the tech-filled space.
Located in an old factory in Brooklyn, the 8,500 sq ft roof garden is filled with vegetables, herbs and plants, creating a green haven for Kickstarter's workers in the middle of a bustling city. Incorporating technology into the three-storey building itself, a unique irrigation system carries rainwater to plants on each level.
Floor-to-ceiling glass windows allow an abundance of natural light into the open-plan office space, while materials include reclaimed wood and sustainable building insulation – which is even safe enough to eat.
In a bid to create engaging workspaces for employees, forward-thinking brands are taking fresh approaches to office design that foster greater connection, productivity and community. For more insight, see The Living Workspace.
