Studio Juju at Basel

Singapore-based design duo Studio Juju has been selected to receive a Designers of the Future Award – sponsored by the event Design Miami and W Hotels – at design fair Design Miami/Basel in Switzerland.

The award honours a select group of promising young designers whose work goes beyond pure product design, and represents conceptually or technologically vanguard approaches.

Studio Juju’s process is characterised by a hands-on approach to prototype making. In Drum Series (pictured) – a series of stackable storage cases – their construction explores the techniques of frame making, with a structure that resembles that of a wooden boat or ship.

Studio Juju’s newly commissioned work will be unveiled at Design Miami/Basel, Switzerland. The event runs from June 14–18 2011.
