Singapore’s Space Asia Hub

Bringing a slice of modernity to a traditional street, Singapore-based practice WOHA Architects’ new showroom for luxury furniture retailer Space Asia Hub conserves a historic ‘shophouse’ and bungalow, combining them with a sleek glass block in between.

Located in the Singapore Arts District on Bencoolen Street, the 40,000 sq ft complex will act as a gallery for a number of international furniture brands, including Cassina, Flexform, Flos and Vitra. The two traditional buildings have been fully restored, while the new glass block added to the centre has been conceived to unify all three.

The project is a prime example of innovative, contemporary restoration. See our report Future-Classic: Contemporary Restoration for more on this subject.
