Jeremy Rotsztain’s Action Paintings

Canadian digital artist Jeremy Rotsztain combines film and abstract expressionism using custom-written digital software. His action paintings source data from modern action films – selected by consulting online top 10 lists – and translate the information into randomly generated digital brushstrokes.

Ideally, Rotsztain’s contemporary re-workings of his cinematic influences should be viewed as large-scale, high-definition projections – creating an effect similar to the monumental colourscapes by painter Mark Rothko or the abstract canvases by artist Jackson Pollock.

His work can be viewed via the artist’s Vimeo channel.
