MealPass: Lunch Subscription Service

US-based start-up MealPass is a monthly membership lunch service, which provides members with affordable, high-quality lunchtime meals.  Currently available in Boston, Miami and New York, MealPass has partnered with select restaurants such as US pizza chain 2 Bros. Pizza and healthy eatery Fuel Grill & Juice Bar.

Once members sign up to the service for $99 USD per month (equating to $5 USD per day), they can choose their lunch from a list of dishes available at participating restaurants. Orders must be placed before 9.30am each day, with both orders and payment made via the website.

After midday members can collect their meal in-person at their chosen restaurant, skipping the queue and saving time. After users have collected their meals, MealPass asks them to rate their experience in terms of food quality and portion size.

Echoing this idea fast food services are receiving a sophisticated makeover with a slew of healthy options becoming more readily available. See Healthification of Fast Food, part of our New Food Frontiers Industry Trend, for more on wider industry developments.

Meanwhile, apps and services that are speeding up and streamlining life are gaining traction with busy consumers juggling a range of different priorities as discussed in The Streamlined Self: DLD 2016
