W Hotels Debuts in France

W Hotels will make its debut in Paris next month with the new W Paris – Opéra hotel. Owned by Barcelona-based Meridia Capital, the hotel is set inside an elegant 1870s Haussman-era heritage building, and has been designed by Starwood’s own in-house global brand design team in collaboration with international architects, Rockwell Group Europe.
Despite being famed for its hip character and boasting a youthful, stylish clientele, the brand’s Paris outpost retains many of its heritage features, including ornamented columns, vaulted ceilings, marble staircases, mosaic flooring and stained glass windows.
Nevertheless, all of these heritage features work around The Spark – an oversized, backlit digital wall made of black resin and shaped like a molten structure, which defines the central core of the building and creates a natural flow through the public and private spaces.
As well as 91 guest rooms, including 20 suites and two presidential suites, the hotel will include a signature restaurant, destination bar, fitness centre and mezzanine-level social space.
