Playful Patisserie, Sydney

Providing a fun-fuelled setting for the delicate art of cake-making, Sydney-based interior design practice Luchetti Krelle has designed a Willy Wonka-inspired patisserie for Australian pastry chef, Adriano Zumbo.

The patisserie is located in the new Star Casino complex near Sydney’s Darling Harbour, which has drawn an international roster of world-class eateries. The colourful space features macaroon wallpaper, a dessert ‘sushi train’, ‘break glass in case of emergency’ domed patisserie displays, and vibrant display bubbles inspired by the board game Mouse Trap.

The tongue-in-cheek concept, described by Luchetti Krelle as a “kinetic factory of fun”, was conceived to reflect Zumbo’s playful food philosophy.

Look out for The New Food Emporiums report in January for more examples of innovative food retail spaces.
