Smartphone-Controlled Cooker

Bringing contemporary restaurant cuisine to home settings, Mellow is a wi-fi-enabled sous-vide cooking appliance that delivers perfectly cooked meals.

Mellow can be programmed to cook everything from soft-boiled eggs to salmon and chicken, and can be controlled remotely via a dedicated smartphone app.

Users need to insert edible ingredients into plastic bags and place them in the machine, which must be filled with water. All contents inside the appliance are kept at refrigerator temperature until the pre-set cooking time when the temperature is raised to suit the food type.

The kit comes with reusable plastic bags, and a built-in scale weighs the food to ensure accurate cooking duration and settings. The intuitive app can also store recipes and taste preferences, and prompt the user to try new versions of their favourite dishes.

Created by Portugal-based start-up FNV Labs, the device is available for pre-order for US customers at $400.
