New App Connects Volunteers with BLM organisations

New app Pronto! makes it even easier for volunteers to engage with the Black Lives Matter movement. Its key features include linking volunteers to BIPOC-approved organisations, connecting donors across the US and providing educational anti-racism material.

The September-launched app Pronto! was created by 21-year-old US activist and artist Paul Hill. Available on iPhone, Pronto! includes city-specific directories of trusted organisations and nonprofits, approved by a board of BIPOC activists. The contact information, description, and an easy-access donation link are provided for each organisation promoted on the site.

One such organisation is the Black Trans Travel Fund, which financially supports Black transgender women with safe alternatives of travel. The app also features CreatureFriend.org, a service which helps people locate their friends who have been arrested during protests.

“With an estimated engagement of 26 million people, the Black Lives Matter movement is the largest one in history. Yet there hasn’t been an easy and concise tool to get involved, until now,” creator Paul Hill explained. Looking to the future, Hill plans to launch live maps of protests across the US.
