Nimb: Sophisticated Safety Wearable

Nimb - Stealth Black and Classic White

Nimb is a smart ring with the sole function of ensuring personal safety. Based in California, Nimb Inc. claims to have created the only discreet safety device allowing users to alert friends, family and authorities in the event of an emergency.

The ring is activated by holding your thumb on a hidden button embedded in the ring for three seconds, which sends an alert to pre-set contacts. Other Nimb users nearby can also be alerted.

Everyone receiving the alert can communicate and co-operate via the chat function on a dedicated app. The application locates the ring's GPS and shows the wearer's profile, including name, age, gender and a photo.

The panic button has been sunk into the ring design to prevent accidental alerts, and cancellation can be enabled through the app. The ring itself is elegant and timeless in style: made of polished hypoallergenic metal and covered by a matte-finish plastic shell in either black or white.

The creators of Nimb see it as a movement towards safer environments. They believe society is ready for peer-to-peer help, with people combining efforts to support those in trouble.

For today's consumer, feeling safe is as important as being healthy and happy. From physical and mental health to personal safety and long-distance socialising, concerned consumers are connecting with next-gen wearable devices – read more in Wearable Tech 2016.
