Joy Division/New Order: Total

British graphic designers Peter Saville and Howard Wakefield have collaborated to design the artwork for Total – a compilation of music by Joy Division and New Order.

Borrowing from the palette of the CMYK printing model – cyan, magenta, yellow and black – the design uses overlaid typography to build up colour; a technique that is explained in the Stylus report Additive and Subtractive Colour.

Typical of Saville and Wakefield’s previous work for the musicians, Total is released on 6 June.
