Teforia Smart Brewing Device

Teforia Smart Brewing Device

Teforia is a new smart brewing device that uses modern science to create the perfect cup of tea. Programmed with centuries of knowledge – such as how to brew a first-rate cup of sencha or dragonwell green tea – the machine also has the ability to learn drinkers' unique preferences and create personalised recipes.

The machine also enables users to tweak caffeine levels to suit personal preferences and 'amplify' their brews' antioxidants. For example, levels of gallocatechin (one of the major antioxidants found in tea) can be increased by up to 133% for a healthier beverage simply by selecting the desired option on the machine.

"On a trip to Asia three years ago, I had a cup of tea that changed my life and transported me back to my childhood," said Allen Han, chief executive of Teforia. "That discovery led me to realise how the $90bn global tea market largely consists of commercialised brewing methods and treatments. Most tea drinkers don't know what they're missing, so I wanted to create a way to perfect the process of brewing tea while honouring its tradition."

An accompanying mobile app enables easy reordering for teas and water filters and provides background information on the origins of each tea. Teforia is currently available for pre-order and will start shipping in Spring 2016.
