Kate Spade to Open Flagship Store in London's Chelsea
American fashion and accessories designer Kate Spade is set to open her first European store in London’s upmarket Chelsea. The store will be part of the General Trading Company building in the area of south-west London that is currently being redeveloped for multiple retail opportunities.
Kate Spade launched in 1993 with a range of handbags, later adding shoes, stationery, fragrance, loungewear and eyewear to the brand. Kate Spade at Home – the designer’s range of homewares – launched in 2004, and the luxury lifestyle brand now has 46 stores in the US and the Far East.
The London store will open in September 2011 and will stock the brand's clothes, accessories and a selection of homeware products. Prices range from around $50 (£31) for small leather accessories, $298 (£187) for shoes, and up to around $595 (£373) for a silk dress.
