Givenchy - Paris Fashion Week A/W 2011-12

Amid rumours that designer Riccardo Tisci is set to take over from the recently-ousted John Galliano at Dior, his Autumn/Winter 2011-12 collection for Givenchy was shown in Paris yesterday.

Models were transformed into canvases of nature as prides of black panthers, rings of flowers and elaborate orchids were emblazoned on skirts, jackets and sweatshirts. Colourful and kitsch, the collection melded elements of erotica with nods to Betty Page in sheer and PVC-esque fabrics and a funky 1980s youth attitude. Fluffy angora jumpers and satin baseball jackets jostled with thigh high boots and gauze panels layered under sexed-up A-line skirts.

In an exotic Amazonian palette, brooding black and evergreen hues were shot through with dashes of lavender and canary yellow.
