Milan Design Week 2015 Preview: Clique

Italian brand Clique impressed at last year's Milan Design Week with its first collection – a range of furniture featuring embedded technology. This year, it's returning to the design event with an elegant range of home electronics. The products are made from white Carrara marble, an unusual choice for consumer electronics, and feature a refined and luxurious look.

The range includes smaller items such as a hanging Bluetooth speaker, and a table light that features a USB port for charging handheld devices. The digital clock is a particular highlight – the carefully engineered marble enables the light display to be seen through the translucent material.

As highlighted in Made of Stone, innovations in manufacturing techniques are allowing for new forms that are refreshing this traditional marble.

As technology becomes increasingly ubiquitous in our lives, designers are seeking ways to create subtler designs for consumer electronics that are unimposing within the contemporary home. The appeal of a softer, more harmonious look was seen at International CES earlier this year, with natural materials and a variety of colourways making an appearance.

Clique will be exhibiting at Milan Design Week 2015 in the Ventura Lambrate area. Look out for more Stylus coverage from the event, coming soon, and follow #StylusMilan15 on Twitter and Instagram for on-the-ground updates from our team.
