Richard Chai's Ice-Cool Pop-Up, NY

Young fashion designer Richard Chai has opened his first standalone store – a visually arresting pop-up – in a shipping container underneath New York's High Line Park.

As part of the Building Fashion installation series, a temporary initiative that pairs fashion designers and architects, Brooklyn-based Snarkitecture created the temporary cave-like environment on a tight budget of just £3,200 ($5,000).

The ice-cave look was created using architectural insulation foam carved with a hot wire – providing an innovative yet unobtrusive backdrop against which to display Chai’s collection.
