Supermarket Salons

Taking advantage of the UK’s £5 billion beauty industry, ubiquitous supermarket chain Tesco has announced plans to launch 70 in-store salons nationwide by the end of 2011.

Tesco has trialled the concept at three stores, testing customer reactions to treatments including threading and manicures. Following the success of these, two larger salons in Chesterfield and Leicester are slated to open soon, with plans for an additional 70 by the end of 2011.

Already hosting cafés, clothing, groceries and petrol stations, Tesco looks set to become a truly one-stop shop.
