Rainbow House

Playful spaces have become increasingly popular as relief from the austerity of financially difficult times. In keeping with this, London-based Ab Rogers Design – who recently designed the innovative new Pizza Express restaurant in Richmond, Surrey – has created the Rainbow House.

Set on a busy London road, the house aims to provide an oasis of childhood fun and a break from the stress of everyday city life. The colourful dwelling –described as a ‘living artwork’ by the designers – includes a rotating bed in the master bedroom (allowing views from any window), and a slide that offers an alternative to taking the stairs.

Another major focal point is a central spiral staircase that encompasses the entire spectrum of the rainbow, influencing the colour scheme of each floor it passes through.
