Buffer Busters

Could everything in life soon be subjected to gamification? Vodafone Germany has joined the crowd with an app that ignites the thrill of the chase.

BufferBusters is a location-based augmented reality app that guides players to areas infested by Buffer Monsters – defined by Vodafone’s website as ‘menaces of society’ – who cause traffic congestion, train delays and slow internet connections. Players need the all-seeing eye of the app to shed light on the whereabouts of these nasty virtual monsters.

There is no game without a prize. The more monsters you shoot, the more points you clock up. The highest-ranking players will win lifetime Vodafone mobile plans.
