Festival of Ideas for The New City

Downtown Manhattan, New York, is to become a laboratory for creative thinking during the Festival of Ideas for the New City next month. The programme includes a three-day conference exploring four broad themes: The Heterogeneous City, The Networked City, The Reconfigured City, and The Sustainable City.
A minimal-waste StreetFest will take place along the Bowery by local grassroots organisations showcasing urban farming and sustainable food options, as well as bike tours and oral history projects. The festival will be accompanied by more than 100 independent projects, exhibitions and performances exploring the festival’s themes. Festival of Ideas for the New City will take place from May 4-8 2011.
