Barcelona to Host ASVOFF Film Festival

The annual film festival created by American fashion curator Diane Pernet – the woman behind avant-garde fashion blog A Shaded View on Fashion – is to be held in Barcelona in January 2012.
Launched in 2008, ASVOFF (A Shaded View on Fashion Film) focuses on fashion film and photography, and consists of two sections. The ‘Best Of’ category offers awards for films chosen from a selection curated by Pernet. The competition section is broken down into three categories: Official, Students and Mobile Fashion Film – the latter added to enable budding, young fashion filmmakers to contribute. The festival includes screenings and prizes for short films, and the entire event is open to the public, welcoming professionals, amateurs and all those interested in the medium of fashion film.
Pernet's festival has previously been held in various cities worldwide including Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Moscow, London and Mexico City. Applications for the 2012 ASVOFF competition closed on December 1 2011. The judging panel includes Glenn Adamson, curator for the Victoria and Albert museum in London; Francesca Thyseen from Thyseen Bomemizsa Art Contemporary in Vienna; and Alanna Heiss, founder of contemporary art institution MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) PS1 in New York.
The ASVOFF Festival will run from January 24-27 2012 at the CaixaForum Center in Barcelona, Spain.
