The Istanbul Edition

Lifestyle hotel brand Edition is set to make its European debut in Istanbul’s Levent neighbourhood this April.

In October 2009 Marriott International and hotels innovator (now creative director) Ian Schrager joined forces to create the first Edition hotel at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. The hotel has since received several accolades, including an AAA 4-diamond rating.

Although the hotels are unified by their approach, ethos and attitude towards modern lifestyle – with an emphasis on unique experiences and efficient personal service – each property has an individual style. Each design is derived from the scale, location and feel of the property. The 13-storey Istanbul hotel, with 77 guest lofts averaging 480 sq-ft and a full-floor penthouse, will boast traditional Ottoman and Byzantine features including, a tearoom and Hammam. Guest rooms will feature Rosewood or Soaped Oak walls, extravagant glass-walled marble bathrooms and soft furnishings made from local silk.

Following the first hotel’s success, an ambitious expansion plan is in place with additional hotels planned for Barcelona, Mexico City, Bangkok, South Beach and London.
