Kobot: Compact Electric Vehicle

Extra

Japanese medical equipment manufacturer Kowa and Japanese robot manufacturer Tmsuk have collaborated to produce the Kobot – an open-air, super-compact electric vehicle, designed for city dwellers.

The rear wheel and seat fold into the front of the vehicle at the tap of a button on a smartphone, enabling it to fit into a space of approximately 1 sq m. The vehicle will be available in one and two seat options from next autumn.

While it remains to be seen whether the Kobot is a success, it highlights the push to integrate smartphone devices with vehicles, and create more space-saving options for city dwellers.
