Focused Sustainability

Car manufacturer Ford will use recycled cotton for carpet backing and sound-absorption for a quieter drive in the interior of 2012 Ford Focus.

Ford says each new Focus (on sale early 2011) will use the equivalent of two pairs of jeans. Sustainability manager Carrie Majeske says: “Recycled content is a way to divert waste from land fills and reduce the impact of mining virgin material.” She adds: “It is an alternative that our customers can appreciate. It’s cost effective, and it’s better for our planet.”
