Mary Katrantzou – LFW A/W 2011-12

Mary Katrantzou's new collection, presented at London Fashion Week, continues to showcase the designer's hyper-real aesthetic with vivid colours and opulent prints. Taking inspiration from icons of luxury interiors, Katrantzou envisioned her muse surrounded by Ming vases and Faberge eggs.

Oriental inspirations infused the line with Turkish rug-style tapestry knits and Chinese porcelain tableaux-inspired prints. Katrantzou played with silhouette throughout the collection, continuing last season's lampshade shapes. Also in the mix were more accessible bias silk dresses. In sum, the line offered both fashion as art and as wearable evening gowns, sure to appeal to Katranzou's growing fanbase.
