Innovative Play Space at Darling Harbour, Sydney

Australian landscape architects Aspect Studios has transformed the foreshore of Darling Harbour, one of Sydney’s central tourist and shopping precincts, with a children’s playground. The space features steel structures and heavy mechanical references – all inspired by the area’s industrial roots.

The site references details from some of the best play spaces around the world (such as water-play elements plundered from a site in Germany), as well as making a push towards sustainability. Water features and irrigation systems harness harvested rainwater, while low-energy lighting runs around the peripheries.

The playground also features interactive play zones designed for specific age groups.
