Rosewood Launches Exclusive (But not Elitist) Members’ Club

Carlyle & Co

Hong Kong-headquartered multinational Rosewood Hotel Group has opened Carlyle & Co., an exciting new private members’ club, with the first outpost located in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour. Rather than membership being based on status or profession, members are selected according to personalities, passions, interests and stories, making for a rich, diverse and vibrant cohort.

The Hong Kong chapter, located above the Rosewood Hong Kong hotel, is the first location of the Rosewood Hotel Group’s latest brand, which aims to up the ante when it comes to the private membership experience. The setting, dubbed a ‘social sanctuary’, includes an outdoor terrace (with sweeping views of Hong Kong) as well as soundproof music rooms, a games room, a barber, a tailor, a wine cellar and a brasserie.

The setting will regularly host intimate, live performances from a roster of performers spanning multiple genres, from jazz to soul and cabaret, making it the ideal setting for work and play. In addition, a private floor with eight individually designed bedrooms is available for members and their guests who wish to stay overnight.

Carlyle & Co. stipulates a one-off joining fee of HK$88,000 ($11,328), followed by HK$28,800 ($3,707) in annual dues. However, discounted rates are made available for members under 33, with the joining fee for younger applicants set at HK$20,000 ($2,575), and annual dues of HK$14,700 ($1,892).

This set-up is sure to appeal to the light-footed work/leisure travellers we feature in our recent report Meet the Neo-Nomads, who crave superior services and outstanding design (Carlyle & Co.’s interiors are designed by renowned British interiors and furniture designer Ilse Crawford).
