Tilda Swinton for Chanel Pre-Fall

Iconic Scottish actress Tilda Swinton has been tapped by French luxury label Chanel to star in its Scotland-inspired pre-Autumn 2013 collection campaign.

The striking blonde, known for her roles in feature films including We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Chronicles of Narnia and I Am Love, was shot by Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld himself against a backdrop of opulent medieval tapestries.

Dressed in the rich tartans and brocades first seen at the Chanel pre-Fall Metiers d'Art Paris-Edimbourg show at Linlithgow Palace in December 2012, Swinton was accessorised with strings of pearls and plaid brooches and bags.

The standout campaign also marks the increasing importance of pre-collections. Consumers’ appetite for ‘fast fashion’ extends past the high street to luxury brands, which must also endeavour to provide pre- and capsule collections around the two main collections of the year.

Swinton also recently hit the headlines for her part in the latest video from revered British musician David Bowie and her subsequent speech at the opening of the current David Bowie Is exhibition at London’s V&A Museum.
