Wash & Coffee: Hybrid Space

The architectural equivalent of multi-tasking, Wash & Coffee in Munich, Germany, combines two local services in one; a launderette and a coffee shop. Attempting to alleviate the mundanity of laundry chores, the new space enables local residents to socialise while waiting for their washing.
The design also has an eco-accent. Taking laundry and sustainability seriously, Wash & Coffee has partnered with large manufacturers to offer a more trusted service. For example, the space is outfitted with energy-efficient machines from Bosch and eco-friendly Persil detergents. Staff are also on hand to offer washing advice.

Wash & Coffee has a strong online presence – with a website, Facebook page, blog and newsletter – and is even available for hire for parties and workshops, accentuating its founding principle: community spirit.
