Carwan Gallery at Design Miami/Basel

Previously profiled by Stylus as a gallery dedicated to injecting modernity into Middle-Eastern craft techniques, Beirut-based Carwan will be showing next week at Design Miami/Basel in Switzerland. It is the first gallery from the region to be invited to show at the design fair.
A highlight of its display is sure to be the new work from Paris-based architect and designer India Mahdavi. Entitled Landscapes, the range of handcrafted tables and lamps are inspired by travels through Beirut, Instanbul and Paris. The abstract colours, shapes and surface patterns reference 16th-century Ottoman designs.
Design Miami/Basel runs from June 11-16 2013. For more on India Mahdavi and the gallery, see Stylus' Carwan Gallery profile.
