Milan 2014: MIT at Lexus Design Amazing

Created by Tangible Media Group, an arm of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US, Transform is a piece of dynamic furniture. Three displays across the length of the table react to gestural movement, or can be used to present data-driven content – the sections of the table feature thousands of pins that move up and down in a fluid motion.
The piece was unveiled at the Lexus Design Amazing exhibition during Milan Design Week 2014 – an event created by the Japanese automotive manufacturer to showcase works that fuse technology and design. Look to A/W 15-16 Design Direction React for similar inspiration.
Digital movement and playful mechanisms that react to human interaction were prevalent at Milan Design Week this year – look to Interactive Surfaces in our Editor’s Highlights report for more information. For more insights from the event, see our full coverage of Milan Design Week 2014.
