RCA Graduate Show 2013

As the graduate show season continues, we attended London’s Royal College of Art’s graduate fashion show to check out the school’s impressive MA talent.

The catwalk show comprised 33 MA graduate collections offering womenswear, menswear and knitwear, as well as footwear and accessory presentations by a further eight students. Highlights included Harriet de Roeper’s modern sequined pieces that immediately grabbed out attention and impressed in terms of detail, and Cecilie Liv Mortensen, who put a delicate spin on fur with embroidery and print for an accomplished menswear collection.

Menswear felt particularly strong with proportion a key point of interest, as both shrunken and wide, tent-like silhouettes were experimented with. Overall, womenswear felt feminine and very much about fabric, detail and movement, and as seen at Central St Martins on Tuesday (May 28), statement headwear was a key styling direction.

Look out for our graduate show reports next week for full coverage of the brightest emerging talent.
