Nail Varnish Trends: OPI & Mariah Carey

Stylus popped into OPI’s press day earlier today, to discover the colours and collaborations from the Dutch nail brand for S/S 2013.

The brand has partnered with international pop star and icon Mariah Carey to create eight-limited edition shades. Working around a purple colour palette, the collection offered a new direction for glittery nail polish with four ‘Liquid Sand’ laquers that have a textured, matte finish an a subtle hint of sparkle. In line with the catwalks, glitter and shine are integral to the brand’s entire offerings, with ‘Polka.com’, a glittery combination of blue and violet, being one of Stylus’ particular favourites.

The other main collection called Euro Centrale draws inspiration from central Europe, namely Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Roamnia, for it’s names and deep, bold colours. The violet shade called ‘Vant to Bite My neck?’ seemed timely with Halloween around the corner, while the autumnal shimmering coppers hinted at S/S 2013’s transeasonal aesthetic.

OPI has just lanched a new video called 'The Instinct of Colour' which can be watched here.
