Sony Life Space UX: Blending Light and Sound

No resemblance to a conventional speaker: the LED Bulb Speaker and Glass Sound Speaker

Life Space UX – Sony’s collection of holistic home entertainment products – includes two new wireless speakers that aim to transform living space through harmonised light and sound.

  • LED Bulb Speaker: Although it resembles a smart light bulb, sound defines this speaker. Having a regular E26 fitting allows users to listen to music anywhere with a standard light bulb screw socket. The 192 colour settings and 32 levels of brightness can be attuned to suit specific moods via Bluetooth enabled devices. Using a digital application, music and lighting can be synchronised by exploring presets or by customising new settings.
  • Glass Sound Speaker: Mimicking a warm candlelight glow, this lantern-like speaker blends seamlessly into interiors. Sony’s newly developed audio technology disguises the source of sound – actuators create sound by vibrating through the glass, which gives the illusion of music coming from every direction. By minimising the number of inputs and buttons, the speaker can become a table centrepiece or blend discreetly into its surroundings.

Life Space UX products concentrate on harnessing technologies that can enhance our personal experiences and ambience within the living space. Fine-tuned and environmentally responsive lighting designs are pairing with Internet of Things technologies to become smarter and more visually dynamic – see Intelligent Lighting for more.
