Tesla Model X

Premium Californian electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla has launched the Model X, which is aimed squarely at America’s staple sport utility vehicle (SUV) market. The svelte seven-seater EV, due on sale in 2014, has a projected range of 300 miles on a single charge while offering permanent four-wheel drive from two electric motors.
By taking advantage of the packaging benefits of sandwiching the Model X’s lithium-ion batteries in the floor, Tesla has designed a desirable EV with space for seven adults and their luggage. Other highlights include a 17” touchscreen to control the majority of the interior functions, and ‘falcon’ doors that allow for easy access to the rear seats by rising up above the car.
The Model X will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012 – look out for Stylus’ forthcoming coverage of the event. Read more about exciting EVs in Ecovelocity.
