Virgin America’s New Uniforms

American clothing brand Banana Republic has created a stylish new uniform for US airline Virgin America’s 2,000 in-flight and airport crew.

The “utility chic” uniforms – nine styles for men and 13 for women – include leather jackets, macs, pencil skirts and trousers, all featuring aviation touches such as shoulder tabs and chest pockets.

The uniforms will debut on flights from August 8 – the fifth anniversary of the airline’s first flight. Virgin America will also offer customers the chance to purchase Banana Republic travel essentials inspired by the new uniforms.

This is not the first time the companies have partnered – the pair also produced the first live-tweeted, in-flight fashion show in February.

See the Stylus report The Uniform of Travel for more insight into how airlines are enriching their brand experience with uniforms.
