Rebecca Minkoff S/S 2013

LA-based womenswear designer Rebecca Minkoff personally presented her Spring/Summer 2013 ready-to-wear collection to London’s press and buyers for the first time on Friday, showcasing her West Coast aesthetic and Los Angeles inspirations.

Showing at New York Fashion Week since S/S 11, Minkoff is one of LA’s most successful designers, championing the city’s style and position in the fashion industry. The inspiration behind the S/S 13 collection was a combination of indie LA band Tennis and the iconic work of American photographer Slim Aarons. Aaron’s glamorous, poolside photographs taken in California inspired Minkoff’’s laid-back, summery collection, with 1970s accents adding a retro Bohemia.

Embroidered denim, leather shorts, vibrant prints and wide-leg trousers were just a few of Minkoff’s sunshine-ready offerings. In addition to the ready-to-wear, the collection also featured leather bags, including fashion-led camera and sunglasses cases, and a silver jewellery collection that will be exclusive to high-end department store Selfridges in the UK, available from November.
