Aki-Oka Artisan Mall

Aki-Oka shopping mall in north-west Tokyo is well placed to cater for the increasing consumer desire for products with provenance.

The mall, operated by Japan Rail, is housed under some train tracks in an otherwise dated neighbourhood once famous for its craftsmen.

The opening of Aki-Oka reflects an overall revitalisation of eastern Tokyo, with many galleries, cafes and fashionable independent stores moving to the area.
