Céline’s London Flagship Store
Luxury French fashion label Céline has opened its London flagship boutique on Mayfair’s prestigious Mount Street.
Designed by British fashion designer and the brand's creative director Phoebe Philo, the retail space comprises a minimal aesthetic that reflects her runway collections. Traditional craftsmanship, respect for rare raw materials and innovation are significant elements upheld in this tactile, gallery-like set-up.
A striking marble floor inspired by parquetry is the store’s most distinctive feature. Twelve different types and colourations of marble inlaid with semi-precious stones are intricately spliced together for a decorative, collaged effect.
For more projects acknowledging the craft and refinement of natural materials, see the Autumn/Winter 2015-16 Design Direction, Unearth. Also look to our Materials Focus 2015-16 trends Monument and Precious Craft.
Further ideas for refreshed pattern applications and ingenious uses of marble can be found in the Made of Stone report.
