The Chillery: A Weed Wellness Platform

The Chillery

Cannabidiol (CBD) the non-psychoactive component in cannabis, is becoming a must-have ingredient in the global wellness industry. With 60% of British consumers interested in the health-boosting benefits of CBD (The Grocer, 2019), UK-based e-tailer The Chillery is entering the female wellbeing category.

Launched in April 2019, The Chillery is selling luxury CBD products for health-conscious women – ranging from massage oils to face masks. The brand has curated a selection of products aimed at five treatment areas: sleep, stress, pain, beauty and intimacy.

The wellness start-up introduces consumers to CBD products with its Starter Kit which includes three oils for different targeted uses. US brand Kiki Health’s 5% CBD Oil aids sleep and relieves stress; British start-up LDN CBD’s Full Spectrum Massage Oil contains rosemary and cedar neroli for relaxation; while American brand L’eela’s Vital Hydrating Oil moisturises the skin and hair.

The Chillery’s main aim is to inform shoppers about CBD’s medicinal properties. As part of the brand’s mission to deliver easy-to-understand information about its products, it also debuted a blog Learn – CBD 101. In one article, users learn how different forms of CBD (such as creams and oils) are absorbed into the skin and bloodstream.

The global hype surrounding CBD is growing, but transparency is vital for wellness brands in this space – research suggests nearly 70% of all CBD products sold online in America are mislabelled (Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research, 2018). The Chillery is a good example of an honest CBD outlet: all the products on the website undergo a vetting process and lab reports that provide the CBD source are required by the e-tailer.
