The Jumper for Life, not Just for Christmas
The ultimate festive novelty throwaway item, the Christmas jumper has been given a sustainable makeover.
In line with the fast-fashion backlash and the growing trend for conscientious consumption, 26-year-old British designer and entrepreneur Tom Cridland is making clothes that work harder for us.
Using the same concepts and technology applied to his 30-Year Sweatshirt – a successful sustainable fashion project launched last summer – the Christmas jumper comes in three festive prints and is made from 100% Italian organic cotton, which is finished to prevent the typical shrinkage and piling you might expect from an ordinary sweat. It even comes with a guarantee of three decades’ worth of free repairs.
The Christmas jumper and 30-Year Sweatshirt are part of an entire range of built-to-last elevated basics on Cridland’s site. The brand addresses issues surrounding sustainability, fashion with function and even the appeal of uniform dressing – themes explored further in our Industry Trend The Anti-Trend and our 2017: Look Ahead – Fashion.
