The Restory & Harvey Nichols’ Product Revival Package
Showcasing the immense luxury opportunity in aftercare commerce, British restoration business The Restory has partnered with UK department store Harvey Nichols on ‘Revival Packages’. These are effectively repair vouchers for luxury goods that are purchased upfront, while the item is still box-fresh.
From rare sneakers to prestige handbags, the double whammy of Gen Z’s investment mentality is making aftercare a whopping business opportunity. There is a growing desire to consume more sustainably, and as a result, the US second-hand clothing market alone is growing 24 times faster than traditional retail (ThredUp, 2018). In fact, one million Americans have joined a club to learn how to repair their stuff - Repair.org, 2018.
Catering to this, The Restory is expanding on its relationship with Harvey Nichols, formed in 2018, when it launched accessories repair concessions in-store, with The Revival Package. This is a bundle of “competitively priced [restoration] services” exclusively available to buy alongside new shoes or bags at the brand’s seven nationwide stores. There are two packages, one for shoes (£120/$147) and another for bags (£250/$306), and are essentially insurance certificates, each lasting 18 months. Each package is registered directly to the item, detailed in an email sent to clients.
Package holders redeem the services directly with The Restory, or by dropping off items in-store, which are then shipped to The Restory’s London atelier. Here experts will assess them and provide an online quote for acceptance, query or decline. After approval, they are restored by an elite team of “next-generation artisans” before being shipped back to Harvey Nichols, or any UK location convenient to the client, free of charge.
